Changchun Travel Guide
Changchun (长春; literally "Long Spring") is the capital and largest city of Jilin province (吉林), located in the northeast of the People's Republic of China bordering Russia and North Korea in the east and southeast respectively. Changchun consists of counties and 3 county-level cities (Jiutai City, Yushu City and Denghui City). It is the largest automobile manufacturing base in China, with also the biggest automobile research and development center. Its leading industries are mainly in foodstuffs, photo-electronic information, biology and medicine, and automotive

WEATHER
Changchun has a semi-wet, monsoon type climate, with varying temperatures throughout the year. The city has four clearly defined seasons: spring being dry and windy; summer, short and cool; autumn, sunny and warm during the day but cold at night;
winter is cold, with a permanent covering of snow. The average annual temperature of Changchun is about 5 C. The coldest month is January, with temperatures varying between 17 C and -39 C, while July temperatures, the hottest month, vary from 23 C to 39 C. As for clothing, even almost to the middle period of summer it is still advisable to wear long-sleeve clothing.
TRANSPORTATION
Changchun is a very compact city, planned at its origin by the Japanese with a layout of open avenues and public squares. It is in fact very difficult to get lost in the city- most streets are constructed in such a way that the roads are perpendicular to each other. The city roads are also flat, that is there are no slopes.
Road:
Changchun is linked to the national highway network through the Changchun–Harbin Expressway, the Changchun–Jilin-Huichun Expressway with the busiest section in the province being the Changchun-Jilin North Highway.
Within the city, Changchun is served by a comprehensive bus system, as well as one traditional tram route (route 54). Most buses and the tram charge 1 Yuan (元) per ride. Changchun also has as a modern light rail line but is currently undergoing extension. Bicycling is relatively rare as compared to other northeastern Chinese cities because of the congested streets, thus being the least safe way of moving around the city, but mopeds, as well as pedal and even animal-drawn carts are relatively common.
Railways:
Changchun has three passenger rail stations, with most trains stopping at the central Changchun Railway Station (长春站), where there are multiple daily departures to other northeast cities such as Jilin City, Harbin, Shenyang, and Dalian, as well as Beijing.
Air:
The Changchun Longjia Airport was at its origin a military airport, opened only recently in 2005 as the main civilian airport for both Changchun and Longjia. It takes about 45 minutes to reach downtown from the airport. Despite being a small airport, domestic flights are available to 20 Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Current international and regional flights are available to Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, and Vladistok.
